Soprano Saxophone

$595

Characteristics: The Shadow Alto is an SX90R design with the major change of the material used in the tube (neck, body, bow & bell) construction. Instead of brass, the Shadow Alto is made from solid nickel-silver. Nickel-silver is an alloy comprised of 60% copper, 20% nickel & 20% zinc (regular brass is 70% copper and 30% zinc). The name “nickel-silver” is due to the metal’s appearance being lighter in color than nickel but not quite as light as silver. Many people find this horn to be more flexible for jazz, rock & pop style playing.

Specs:

  • Serial #123xxx

  • Handmade in Germany using old world craftsman styles

  • The Keilweth Shadow Alto utilizes a “Soldered Rim” tonehole. In this setup, the tonehole is manufactured first like other traditional “straight” tone holes. This helps to add mass to the horn in a way that increases the tonal depth of the horn while not increasing the resistance.

  • Range: Low Bb – High F#

  • Black pearls

Tone:

Brighter sound with a more vibrant response.

Condition:

Mint

Keilwerth "Shadow"

Alto Saxophone

$4895

Characteristics: Selmer Model 22 Alto Saxophone. Replacing the “Series 1922”, the “Model 22” was a technically innovative, more streamlined and stronger construction compared to traditional workmanship. The Model 22s were significantly different from American horns of this era. The keys were drop forged rather than cast, and the low bell keys (low B and Bb) were on one side of the bell. The key action was closer and lighter. Many have enjoyed the tone and feel of these horns. Own a piece of history!

Specs:

  • Made in Paris, France

  • Vintage – rare instrument

Tone:

With its small bore, it plays with precision throughout the horn. Has a dark, complex tone with excellent projection.
